CSU Finishes First Half With Two Wins vs RMU

Posted by Brendan McCann on Nov 22 2015 at 04:00PM PST

The Vikings went to Chicago for a pair of games against Robert Morris(Black) on November 20th and 21st.  These were the final two games for CSU until January, so they were trying to go out on a positive note before the break.

In the first game of the series, the Vikes came out of the gate tight after a long car ride, but were able to take the lead after Ron Narolewski scored his first of the game halfway through the first.  Robert Morris responded in the second with a goal before three unanswered came from CSU.  However, RMU came back to cut the lead to one early in the third.  Then Nikita Goldman gave the Vikings a two goal lead in the third.  That would prove to be enough for the Vikes as they would win 5-3.  Both Narolewski and Curran had two goals in the game while assists came from Uhas, McCann, and Goldman.  Kyle Seaman made 19 saves in net.

Game two on Saturday night went just as well for Cleveland State.  Spencer Martineau scored the lone first period goal while Mark Sharpnack did the same in the second period.  The game finally broke open in the third when each team traded 2 goals each, before the Vikings ultimately won it with a final score of 5-2.  Leading goal-scorer Mark Sharpnack notched his second hat-trick of the season when he scored 2 goals in the third and added 2 more assists for a 5 point night.  Mike Fuchs scored the other CSU goal, and also added an assist, while the last assist came from Kyle Suts.  Seaman also recored 13 saves getting his second win on the weekend.

Viking hockey will resume in 2016 when CSU travels to Erie, PA to take on Penn State-Behrend on January 9th.  CSU is also set to take on teams such as Youngstown State, Otterbein, Washtenaw, Akron, and will also take part in the LTU outdoor tournament in February.
